"From the moment Keenan sees Aislinn, he wants her. He needs her. He believes that the sun could rise in her, if he could only get her to look at him.
But Aislinn's not going to look.
She's been told too much and too often: Don't look at the invisible. Don't see what isn't there. Throughout history, bad, bad things have happened to people who have looked and seen, with their Sight, what they ought not to have seen. Aislinn's grandmother has told her often enough. Don't look. Don't see. Don't hear. Don't listen. Even if there are faeries following you. Even if one of them has... a wolf.
Even if one of them has a wolf and another one is so gorgeous he makes your heart stop and you dearly dearlydearlydearly want to not only look at him but be with him and feel the sun on your face...
"Just Say No" has never been so close to impossible."

"I don’t like faery stories, but Wicked Lovely has now replaced A Great and Terrible Beauty, Harry Potter, and the Lioness Quartet as my favorite book(s). My problem with Faery tales is that I can’t identify with them. But in this book, I saw myself in mortal and faery alike."

"The plot is compelling in itself, and you can’t help but feel you’re being thrust into Aislinn’s world. The mood and emotions in this book are so deep; you fear for Aislinn--one of the strongest characters in any book--you’re completely frustrated because for once you can’t figure out the ending before the half-way point. You want Aislinn to become the Summer Queen, but at the same time, you’d so much rather her end up with Seth than Keenan."

"Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr is a masterpiece of suspense! I could not put it down, literally, until the last page was turned… at after three in the morning. The heroine is strong and believable, and the romantic tension is through the roof without resorting to smutty scenes. Add in a twist of faerie royalty, magic, deadly competition, and a few excruciating plot twists, and you’ve got a great book."

"Marr does a number of things very well. I've already mentioned her characterization and the easy way she has of getting background information across without being obvious about it. But she also has a fine ear for both dialog and descriptive prose. Her plot and subplots keep you on the edge of your seat, and continue to surprise right through to the end. And she's done a terrific job of integrating the dangers, folklore, and flexible morality of faerie with the real world. "

"Marr creates a fully realized world that conveys the details and the politics of faery life. The suspense remains taut, as the point of view shifts between Aislinn, Keenan and Donia, allowing the reader to develop sympathy for all of them. Marr's lyrical language and sensual imagery capture both the confused emotions and the physicality of adolescence."

"Wicked Lovely is the kind of novel that draws you in from the first page, until you can feel Faery breath on your shoulder and almost see them out of the corner of your eye. Ash is a heroine who will appeal not only to the YA fan base, but to all adult lovers of fantasy as well. It's brilliant, creepy, seductive and mesmerizing. "

"Wicked Lovely is a fairy tale in every sense of the word. Beautiful, evocative, suspenseful, metaphoric and cautionary, it's populated by characters that seem very real, trapped in a situation that, while supernatural in its scope, nonetheless forces a conflict any of us can understand."

"The prose was delicious and wicked lovely and splendidly dangerous. I actually sighed as I finished that chapter. Have you ever read a book and when you're done reading as much as you will for one session you just sort of hold the book, admire the cover, trace your fingers over the lettering? Well, I do. Sometimes. Rarely. But this is one of those books. "

"Most of the characters were delicately drawn, particularly Keenan and Donia, the current forsaken girl. Keenan wasn’t evil. He was trying to save his people and there was little he wouldn’t do for them. Donia, after decades of watching Keenan romance other girls, still aches for him even though he is constantly breaking her heart. Aislinn was unsure of nearly everything in her life, of Seth’s feelings, of her otherworldliness, of her future."

" I found the Winter Court and its queen, intriguing. I liked Aislinn and the other characters, too. As I mentioned before, the faeries weren’t the Disney sort—they were beautiful and malevolent. The story is coupled with romance as well and I found it compelling though I must admit, I was a little surprised by the HEA, but not in a bad way.

"I decided to settle down with Wicked Lovely after my last read because I wanted something fast and something I'd most likely enjoy, but something that wasn't remotely similar to what I'd just finished reading.
I was right. I finished this book in 24 hours. It was fantastic."

"In this first novel, Melissa Marr shows the darker side of fairy tale fantasy. This is no happily-ever-after fairy tale, and it offers more than the usual good-versus-evil storyline. There is a depth to it that I wouldn't have expected in a young adult fantasy. Though the back cover states that this book is for ages twelve and up, I would recommend it for mature teens and adults due to some profanity and borderline sensuality. Overall I found Wicked Lovely intriguing and imaginative, an inspiring read."

"Like the faeries in Holly Black's novels, these are not your sweet, winged creatures, but reflect the true spirit of the Fae and the various courts.

By: LJ user quippe, who would like to add that despite the tone of her review, she did, in fact, like the book.
"I want to start off by making the point that I did enjoy this book. It’s well written, Marr keeps the story moving and Aislinn is an interesting protagonist with a particularly tricky problem. Having spent her whole life following the three rules that will prevent faeries from ever discovering that she has the Sight, she’s now faced with a faerie who is actively trying to get her attention but who doesn’t know that she sees him for what he really is. Aislinn wants to avoid Keenan’s attention, whilst not tipping him off as to her gift but Keenan cannot be persuaded because he’s seen Aislinn has a potential Summer Queen in his dreams and must therefore pursue her to try and make her accept a challenge that will determine whether she is the Summer Queen. At the same time, Aislinn is being followed by Donia, the Winter Girl, who must try to persuade her not to accept the challenge.
